Power Supply Selection, Variable 12V DC Output

I'm looking for help with a small (seemingly simple) project. I bought a pre-assembled Cana Kit that converts 12VAC to variable 5-12V DC. I purchased the kit from canakit*dot*com. The product is listed under 5 - 12V / 1A Regulated Power Supply.

Can I use a Wall Wart to power this? If I can use a wall wart, what should the output be? I'm confused because the product detail indicates "Supply voltage: 12V AC C.T. (2 x 6V AC) / 1A". Does this mean I need to purchase a 12VAC wall wart or a 6VAC wall wart (If one can be used at all)? How would I go about wiring from the wall wart if indeed it is even possible to use this? If a wall wart is not a good solution, can you offer any direction?

I would really appreciate some help here - as you can see, I'm not so electronically inclined:eek:.

By the way, my goal here is to be able to provide variable dc voltage (up to 12V) for a high voltage neon power supply I bought. The neon power supply produces 2,000 VAC, and I've been using a 12 Volt DC wall wart to power it (works just fine). The mfr says you can vary the input up to 12 volts so that the output can be varied as well.
 
Yes, you can use a wall wart.
Either a 6V AC 2.8A using a voltage doubler hookup (G-A1), or a 12V AC 1.4A directly as usual (A1-A2).
Or a 15V DC 1A (no need for using the rectifier with this, hook it straight to the caps.).
Do you have any idea about how much power the neon supply draws?

Input: 12VDC, 1Amp Max
Output: 2000VAC, 10mA

I don't know if you were looking for an actual current reading or not, but just in case, I hooked up the supply in series to a DMM, and found that it is drawing .95A from a 12V, 1A wall wart.
