All joking aside those sockets are both electrically and aesthetically COOL! ;)

Making the actual sockets from charred wood is probably not the wisest move. However I have very low voltages in mind. I can always make them out of acrylic or even make them removable so they just hold the pin sockets in alignment while they are soldered if I want to use higher voltages.

When I was in EE school in early 70's an older buddy designed his own tube preamp and power amp, bass reflex.

Crystal clear, at full volume at full gain while no hiss between cuts. I was impressed when the windows and wall resonated and nice compact ,layout.

MDF! Your photos belie that awful truth. Besides using a CNC laser cutter did you also photoshop those pix? :p

BTW, I've rescinded your master wood worker status because using CNC and Lasers doesn't get you into that fraternity. Though using MDF and actually making that awful stuff look attractive should get you high status in the CNC Laser community! :)

I used MDF to make a DR table extension and matched the grain and colour of cherry wood using a brush and lots of acrylic. I bought a rack and pinion oak slide to,support it so we can fit 14 people around the table at family parties.

cool tube photos.
