PC5010 initial power-on sequence

I

Ian Macky

What is the first-time power-on sequence to bootstrap a PC5010?
The installation guide just says don't apply A/C until the wiring
is finished, and is generally unhelpful.

I have the main cabinet with A/C and battery, plus the high-current
cabinet with A/C and battery. What gets power the very first time
when turning it on (to probe for modules, assign keypads, etc)?

Also, does it use flash memory for its programming? I assume it
doesn't need power (external or on-board battery) to keep its
programmed config, right?

As for batteries, when do you connect the big backup batteries and
charge them up?

P.S. Thanks to everyone for the help so far, this group has been
very useful. If only the backbiting feuds were eliminated it
would be excellent!

Basically it tells it like it is, dont plug in the A/C transformer until all
wiring
is in place including the D/C leads to the battery. The D/C powers the board
basically and the A/C insertion tells the board to initialize.

It uses a EEprom that stores your factory data and also your programmed
data. Does not need power to maintain your programmed features.

Describe BIG, the backups that come with the kits are relatively small.
3.5W 3.5H 2.5 Thick approx., if your talking about that battery it connects
next
to last, after all zones, bell, keypads and powered devices. Next is the A/C
transformer to power up the system and charge the battery.

Hope this helps some with my limited knowledge.
