OLF

Anyone else using this technology?

What do you do, just stick some regular OLF inside the tube, or what?

The blurb says:
"By replacing at least one of its surfaces with dot-printed OLF, a hollow
light guide can selectively leak a portion of the light bouncing within.
Here's how. The diffuse dots scatter any light rays striking them into
multiple new rays at many angles. Some are above the critical angle and can
therefore pass through the OLF surfaces.

To pass light through evenly over a given OLF surface, the amount of scatter
must be managed. It is done so by graduating the dot size axially along the
light guide. This balances reflection and transmission and enables a uniform
appearance of light emanating out the side of the light guide."

I'm wanting to make something similar, so I'm hoping I can just go out and
buy some OLF, put it inside the tube and hey-presto.

I'm just wondering if it's standard OLF they are using and if the film has
to be in the shape of a cone within the tube.
