Old Data Books?

J

j

Is there any need for old data books? Or should they just be sent to the
dump? For example, Data books on Processors, Logic, application notes, etc.
Analog chips, chips in general.

I can guarantee that it will only be a day or two after you throw them
away that a need for one of them will arise. If you're not pressed for storage
space, keep them.

I'm ALWAYS looking for old data....
I wish I'd held ALL of my old data books.

If you really want to get rid of them, please post a list of what you
have.

Pretty sad... but once in awhile you'll see them go for quite abit on
Ebay... Depends on the exact data book.

If there was a cheap way to get them to be I would be glad to have
them.

What do they weigh? How far are you from Phoenix,
Arizona, U.S.A.?

You will be sorry if you dump them! Despite the Internet, there's much
in old data books and app notes that simply seems to vanish. Try
finding the Nat Semi App note books for instance. I grab every data
book I see in flea-markets, booksales and the like, you can usually
get them for 25c or so.

On the other hand, if there weren't people who thought them useless,
we wouldn't be getting them for 25 cents.

Hi.
Got the picture. Being a native from from the MidWest, we tend to save, or
maybe it is that depression era parenting. What ever, I have saved. Given
the response I will not dispose to the ground, but as I sort, will put out
for those who may need them. I think book rate shipping is fairly cheap.

What about Universities? Some of the early app notes might be of some use.

I do have an old Motorola Applications Manual on the MC6800. (I do intend to
keep the PDP and 68x stuff). But pretty neat to see how much detail was
presented to users so they could figure out how to design with the hardware.

Sorry for the blog.

J

Thanks for the feedback.

Universities, i have found, will not accept old textbooks - even if
the author is a *VERY* NOTED PROFESSOR STILL TEACHING AT THAT
UNIVERSITY!!!!
I will buy whatever you do not want to keep, and will scan and PDF to
you any page(s) of any one(s) you sell to me, on request.

I just picked up a PAPER databook on the 16F8X series of PICs at my town
dump's recycling center. Since I still use that series, it's great. I
don't have to stare at a computer screen when I need to look something
up quickly.
