Need help in disco lights according to beat of sound.

I am trying to figure out a display circuit to use it in dance backdrops. The circuit should contain high illuminant LEDs or bulbs (no LCDs) and the on and off should vary with the sound and beats of the music such that different patterns gets generated by them.

Please friends suggest me something how to do it and where should I search for this project.
