Need bulkhead feedthrough capacitors

K

Karl Uppiano

I am looking for a source for small low voltage capacitors in the 0.01uf
range that can be mounted in a grounded metal wall separating two sections
of an electronic circuit. The capacitors are used to bypass high frequency
signals to ground to eliminate undesirable interactions between the
sections.

These capacitors typically have a solder lug on each end. They have a
threaded case that allows them to be screwed into the bulkhead.

The size isn't too critical, but I don't want big expensive, clunky 1000
volt units. My application runs at 15 volts, and a 50-volt device, in the
size range of 1/2 inch long by 3/8 diameter would be about right. I have
seen these in FM radios, UHF transmitters, and similar applications. They
are often used as power supply connection terminals for FM and TV tuners.

I checked Mouser, and they don't have anything suitable. I have Googled for
"bulkhead feedthrough capacitor" but none of the hits seem to fit my
criteria. They must be out there. Does anybody know of a source?

The're normally just called "feed through capacitors" or
"lead through capacitors"

That did turn up a few more hits, thank you. However, I still have not found
anything suitable for my application. The selection seems very small, and
very expensive relative to my application. I seem to be barking up the wrong
tree.

You just need to misspell the word feedthru:
