multiple leds off one resistor

hi all new to the forum been doing electronic stuff my self for a few years now not to bad at it
right to what im asking lol i built a false floor in my car and when i open it i wont a few leds to light up so i can see what im looking for in there so what iv done is buy a project box a circuit board wire resistors and some leds so im wonding if it will work aswell as be safe to run all of the leds off one resistor or say 5 leds of one resistor cheers

You can run the LEDs with one resistor if you place the LEDs in series without exceeding the sum of each LED's Vf >= the supply voltage..

What color LEDs are they. Are they common 20mA LEDs?
