Monitor and recorded device on/off times

Hiya folks, I need to purchase a small electronic device/sensor that can be installed in a DVD player screen (like in attached pic)

to monitor and record times when it's on and off.... hopefully something cheap off Amazon, eBay.

Any suggestions?
