Mitsubishi VS6015R wont stay on, has deflection

I have an old Mits PTV that is sick and hoping the doctors here have a
prescription for me! When I turn the set on, the main relay on the
power supply board engages for about half a second before turning off
again. I have tested the power supply with dummy load attached and
everything is fine. When I short the contacts next to the relay, set
comes on and I get a raster, but no image. I am happy to see full H
and V deflection on the screen, however all I get are green and blue
lines. The lines slope slightly downward from left to right and are
spaced about 3 inches apart. Any ideas? Im guessing there is a
protection circuit that is trying to
shut it down. I have full schematics and service manual for this unit.
Recently replaced IC8000 on convergence board(static focus) which was
shorted. I think thats everything. Let me know if you need more info.

Try turning down the HV adjustment or turning up the Xray protection (mark
where they were first!) and see if that affects it. If either/both of those
causes the set to stay powered up then you have a problem with the HV
regulation circuitry.

Unplug the picture tubes before you do anything else. Check the voltage on
the crt boards for the 200v source. If that is missing your crt's will be
turned on 100% and protection circuits should cause the set to shut down.
You can get crt burns when turning the set off with the 200v missing.

Check for open Q950

No good...The power supply works fine. Q950 switches relay no problem.
It's gotta be some protection circuit, I just dont know which.
Set broke after focus IC was shorted out. Could it be related?

Could be related, but hard to tell. I would not bother troubleshooting one
of these (V10 chassis) without checking every polar electrolytic in the set.
We typically find between 30 and 60 bad caps (electrolyte leaks and ESR) in
this chassis. We have found it to be a waste of effort to attempt
troubleshooting until the caps have been addressed.
