the back of your tv? That's a female F connector. Can you say F
connector? Sure you can.

It's a female conector with a male housing. Think of the center
conductor as your little dick and things should become much more

The body determines plug vs socket and pin determines male vs female.
This way you can say a "male socket" to discribe a connector like the 15
pin ones used for VGA.
