Looking for a LT1765 pin-compatible buck regulator with Iout>=3.5A

Vin=5V, Vout=1.2V, SO-8 package

Any hints will be highly appreciated. I found a few parts in SO-8 satisfying
all of the electrical requirements, but none of them is even close to be
pin-compatible...

Thanks,

Is your actual load 3.5A or is that your calculated worst case peak
current?

If it is the average, you are in big trouble. If it is the peak,
there may be ideas to get the number below that value. without making
big changes to the PCB. What sort of inductor are you using?

Well, the regulator is supplying core voltage for an FPGA. Since I'd posted
the question I managed to drop the current to about 2.4A by changing the
FPGA design . The heat problem still remains, but a quick experiment with
adding a heatsink showed that this solution will work.
