Hi,
I building a high power multi-rotor and I am looking to increase the visibility in the sky and increase the display of its orientation/heading using LED clusters at the ends of each arm. The multi-rotor is has 8 arms so its an Octo copter. Power is provided by 4 6S Lithium Battery Packs. Everything (Video Link, Telemetry to Ground Station Receiver and AutoPilot) is running of these batteries, so no other external batteries. the dc wiring for each speed controller runs form the battery central hub to the Electronic Speed Controllers that are mounted on the end of each arm underneath each motor. I was considering LED clusters running off the DC just before each ESC. Probably will use Capacitor Packs just before each ESC to reduce ripple due to having the dc cable extend along each arm as this does increase ripple. The LED need to be extremely bright operating at about max 400-500m. Could you please give some advice as to how best to do this. I need this to be 100% reliable, that the circuitry won't in any way reduce the reliability and increase chance of failure. LEDs need a stable voltage so I figure I'll need a voltage regulator to help deal with the voltage ripple further before the LEDs. What LEDs are best to use. I have seen some great LED bulbs, but wasn't sure how good an idea it was using these. Was considering mounting these in a tube at the tip of each arm. cheers Paul
