a recycled multi port usb

im just beginning to get into electronics and im going to do a couple of beginners projects first like your 3 volt fm transmitter. but as a project that i want to get into is to recycle an old multi port usb circuit board from this laptop that i got from work and turn it into a multi port usb adapter. can any body give me some pointers
