Laptop as a Playstation (PS1)

Hello everyone! I want to get a laptop (either the one I see with Windows 95 or the other one that's got Windows 2000) and use it as a Playstation console. So first I want to know the best PS1 emulator compatible with the former and the latter. Also, I would like to know how I could convert the controller port set of my Playstation to use it on the laptop with the emulator (OR how I could convert a controller's cable without using an adapter).

Thank you very much!

Converting the cable is not possible.

Windows 95 and 2000 are not recommended. If you can not get at least Windows 7, you may have problems in the future. If the emulator works for Linux "Ubuntu Linux" is a better choice than Windows 95.

You need a software similar to "JoyToKey". Plug the "USB" joystick in the PC (hope it supports Windows 95 or 2000) and assign the keys to a certain keyboard key.

Yeah, well I just aborted the project anyway, but if I want to do it, it will be on the laptop with Windows XP, since i already have that one, might be less problematic. And since I cannot convert the cable myself, how are the adapters I see for sale act for them to work?

I have bought a similar joystick before and even on the site they told me these chinese joysticks are not with very high quality. The problem that occured for me was the cable got pulled out, because there is no rubber on it to stop it from moving.

But I think this should do for you:

Any other USB joystick should do to:

EDIT:
This is the adapter I suggest:

just going to say this because someone has to.....
emulators are TOTALLY LEGAL
ROMS are TOTALLY ILLEGAL
so if you want to make a totally legal one you have to figure out how they burnt the disc which is proprietary (spelling on that word is going to be SOOOO wrong) and then mod your cdrom/dvd/bluray to account for this.........
(note the above is just to make the thread legal again lol)

Oh hi ! Thank you there, I actually went and looked for emulators, and now that I know and use them, it is so great. My plan at first was to modify the computer to act as a Playstation 1 and use it only for that, which is quite dumb actually.
