Is "Protect America" worth investigating?

C

Colleen

I would like to know if anyone out has used the company "Protect
America" for their home security system. They use the GE Simon 3
system and have a package that includes 20 door/window wireless
contacts for $199 w/a $39.99 per month monitoring charge. It sounds
pretty high compared to other plans but I like the wireless option and
the large number of contacts included with the plan.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

You can't expect got get something for nothing. You either pay upfront for
what looks like $1000+ in parts, or pay for it over period of time.

$39.95 sounds fair. Make sure you read the contract carefully...many
companies are notorious for raising rates after the first year.

One reason new car prices are outrageous is because everyone wants a new car
for zero APR and almost no money down...same game. You either pay now, or
pay through the nose later.

New cars aren that overpriced anymore.. this economy sucks cuz of Bush and
atleast in DELMARVA area things arent so bad.. but if your buying a lexus
you are looking to pay more anywyas

but anywyas as for the system , 20 wireless is a lot, so sounds fair to me,
ive never sold anyone 20 wireless and not gotten a down payment or payment
upfront

They suck. They are a scam. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. Buy from Basshome.

Ask Protect America how much it will cost you to replace the "main unit" if
lightning strikes.

They suck.....they are cokeheads (home office)

You have quite a habit of making baseless and worthless accusations

What exactly were your experiences with them? Did you deal with them
directly or hear about them from someone else? Why are they a scam? Do
you not get all the parts they claim is in their packages? Why are
they cokeheads?

Just curious...

You'd retract that comment if you ever spent a moment conversing with Protect
America's corporate office. The background noise makes me feel like I'm calling
a pool hall.

You are... It's "Little Bino's Pool and Pizza". :)

Worthless? Probably. Baseless? Let's just say I saw what I saw and heard
what I heard.

I didn't just "make stuff up" about the PA home office. I have seen it in
action.

Call them and ask them how much money it will cost to replace the main unit
if it is hit by lightning, then ask, "If my panel is hit by lightning, and I
can't afford to replace it, will you cancel the monitoring contract? Or will
I still be locked in."

Duh! its called a C O N T R A C T, PA can't help it if the system gets hit
by lightning

Yea, but look at the price.

So what? The customer still signed the contract in the first place. Unless
they have an extended warrenty they have to buy another panel.

D

David Kratz

Again, they don't disclose the price for CPU replacement up front. And in
fact, the buyer (mark) is painted up and down about their "service policy",
but "Act of God" is never mentioned.

M

Mark Leuck

Who DOES disclose component replacement up front? Why should they when the
failure rate is minimal. For what it is the Simon has been extremely
reliable
