is it possible to run or modify a 120 watt ballast for a 100 watt mercury vapor bulb?

The question say it all: Is it possible to either modify or run a 120 watt mercury vapor ballast in order to use a 100 watt mercury vapor bulb and, if so, how? Thanks.

No problem using a 100w lamp in a fixture with a 120w rating.

Since MV is now obsolete. Do yourself a favor and convert it to HPS, MH or even better...LED.

Please make sure you properly recycle mercury lamps.
