IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 certifications, where to get them?

IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 certifications, where to get them?

I live in cali near hollywood

Does anyone know where I can get certifications online or a school

The jobs ads in my area ask for these

Industry Standard Certifications:
IPC-A-610
IPC-J-STD-00
A + Plus Class 3 Soldering

But where do you get the certifications at because no school offers them around my area

I know I have tried that but most cost in the thousands right to go through their program

Have you guys tried any IPC programs?

Thank you so much, how did you find one that is close by my house?

I live in hollywood so Rancho Cucamonga California is 3 hours away

I just called them and they said its $1000 per class so I need $2000 dollars to get both which i need really bad

But how did u find one that is close by?

Ya but is there any school that is closer by hollywood?

Cause when you type in google IPC J-STD-001 a bunch of schools from other states come up for me not in my area

How do i choose a 10 to 20mile radius?

how about ringing that other school and asking them
they probably know all the locations for that type of training

we are all spread around the world, you are the one closest to do some digging for local info

I bet the training in Bangalore is cheaper.

It's hugely expensive in Australia ($3300) according to one of those links.

The most important thing is that you already need to know how to solder before you do one of these courses.

No they teach you how to solder SMT, fine pitch and through hole right?

It sounds good but every job ad around my area ask for them

It's not a joke anymore to not have them to get a job

Teach yourself, watch Youtube for the basics... Go out on garbage day and grab whatever electronics devices you can find in the dumpster take it home, un-populate and re-polulate the entire PC board in those devices... And then do it again, and again until you figure it out... Mind those big caps so they don't bite back...

Yeah, employers don't want repair techs destroying boards and costing them even more money by lifting pads/traces and not having a basic understanding of how to solder, what tools are used to do solder work, and how to actually use those tools... Can you blame them?
