I am trying to develope a radiation detector as a fun hobby project (i.e.-not as a "as seen on tv" money maker).
To start with is the free-air ion chamber. I understand it has certain limits for "measuring" and what I am struggling with is the ion-pairs combining and current discharges: time constants. I am to develop a milliGrey per second value from the coulombs on the capacitor.
Does this mean my detector is very inefficient and can it develop a proportional measure? I don't expect a waveform as a resultant signal but a small voltage at the lower resistors (i.e.-top off charge by the bias circuit) coinciding with an exposure.
