Inductor Question

I have instructions to make a 14uH inductor for audio using the following
data:

Wind 20 turns of 20 gauge wire onto a 10 x 30 mm rod.

Now if I use 22 gauge should I increase or decrease the amount of turns?

I'm guessing that the "rod" is ferrite - otherwise you come up with about
1.3uH with an air or plastic core.

There is almost no difference between the inductance provided by the two
gauges. Getting the specified ferrite rod is far more important. Ferrite
variations and winding technique will provide more variation than the change
in wire guage - so don't sweat it.

Your audio capacitors might have 10 percent tolerance, so it doesn't
matter - just wind your coil.

It has to be a ferrite rod. You didn't specify. I assume this is for a
crossover and therfore low resistance is warranted. If I were doing it, I'd
wind bifilar two #22 giving the equivalent of one #19. This is lower
resistance than one #20 but closer to the original than a single #22. The
inductance will be slightly different but would have to be measured for
certainty. For a crossover it won't matter.
