IBM Selectric II Correcting Carriage Returns part way with each return

Hi, I recently purchased an IBM Selectric II Correcting typewriter. It is in overall excellent condition and seems to work fine with one exception, when I get to the end of the line and hit return, the carriage only returns about a quarter of the way. With each successive press of the return it returns another 1/4, finally getting back to the home position. I have only used a Selectric occasionally over the years, so am not familiar with all the settings, but I can't find anything that would set a back stop. Any ideas whether is it broken or just has some setting I'm unfamiliar with?

This may help if it is an issue of cleaning needed.

Here's a manual . Some margins may have been set and may need resetting.

Harald, Thank you for your post. I read through the manual and it seems that it was tabs. Not sure why they worked in reverse, but once I cleared all the tabs I no longer got the stops on return.
