The problem jackorocko is that the eprom may not be faulty. The program has (possibly) been erased. Alternatively the eprom was bad and it was swapped out.
Either way, the problem is that whatever was stored on the eprom is no longer there.
I have had a monitor "die" in this way. Fortunately it was under warranty at the time.
One alternative is to read the data from another working TV -- perhaps a long shot.
The recommended approach would be to approach the service centre at Sharp and ask them. They probably send out already programmed chips, unless the constants on the chip are specific to each set (similar to calibration parameters)
Is there some sort of programming header near the chip? or is it (very unlikely I'd say) a socketed device?
