How to connect LED strip to batteries

It looks like it would work. It would give you a runtime of a little more than 2 hours.

If you don't want it to run at full brightness all the time, you can get a PWM controller which will allow you to dial up a brightness.

At less than full brightness you battery will last longer.

That's the way electrical discharge works, yes.

Hmm then might get a bigger one then, also this is the button. It says 0.5A 125/250v ac

I' guessing because the A rating is so low, it won't work huh?

Switches can have different ratings with AC vs DC and higher vs lower voltages.

But because this switch don't say so, I'd assume it's not up to the task.

If you can't find anything then take a look in a shop selling car accessories. Switches for use in cars are generally rated for higher currents at lower voltages.

yea like i said its only for like a quick flash, like the flash of a photograph. i don't intend on having it longer then maybe 3 or 4 seconds on. you would think it might last me a whole day if i keep it that way?

If you can get 2 hours of continuous runtime, then if you want it running for 24 hours, the duty cycle must be 8% or less.

So 3 or 4 seconds per minute would be fine.
