Yes thank you and yes I've simulated it many times. Hence I know the facts of
the matter. Aside from it being common sense of course.

That is a large variation. Probably due to ripple current capability.

I made mentioned the fact since there are TWO scope pics OF MINE
presented next to each other so that folk did not confuse them.

But YOU did it anyway.

And the pic of the CFL being used correctly shows a conduction period of several
ms. Shame you didn't state the timebase. Looks like ~ 2.5 ms / div though on the
upper trace, giving an estimated conduction period of ~ 3.5 ms.
