Honda EM7000 IS generator inverter replacement

MY EM7000 IS generator quit running. Engine will not start. I was told the inverter was bad. Mechanic wants $1400 to replace it. Has anyone ever replaced an inverter? Difficult to do?

Without any manuals or schematics, cannot be certain, however it is difficult to imagine any ignition system coming from the main generator section.
Usually this type of thing comes from within the engine flywheel/magneto area where a dedicated coil provides ignition voltage to the CDI unit.
I,d be tracing through any ignition kill circuit first to eliminate any fault there.
A manual on/off switch would be a likely suspect.

Google Honda EM7000, you will find the owners manual & the circuit diagram is in it. The Inverter has nothing to do with the ignition that i can see. The ignition is controled by the Generator Control Unit, this is triggered by a trigger coil by the fly wheel. The control unit fires the ignition coil. Check that the oil level is correct & the switch is not faulty.
