Help with powering a circuit board

I have an old laptop screen that could be used as a desktop monitor with a converter:

All I need is a way to power the (red) 5V pins. Is it possible to use something like an old phone charger and replace the connector to juice it?

A 5V charger does not have a regulated voltage. It might be 10V or more when it has a low current load that might blow up your screen.

If disagree with that. Most chargers these days are switchmode power supplies which have pretty good output voltage regulation. This will almost certainly be true if the charger has a USB socket.

Beware that a charger can supply the required current, and preferably more.

Depends on the age and (really) the weight of the wall wart. Old warts have a big lump of iron in them, the linear power transformer. New chargers have a small switching power supply with a much smaller transformer. So if it feels almost like it's empty, that is a regulated switcher. If it's the size of a golf ball but heavier, that's a linear.

Or, you could measure the output voltage unloaded.

If using it next to your desktop, and your computer's PSU has enough wattage, you could get regulated 5VDC from the outer pins 1 and 4 of a USB port.
1=Vcc+ (Red) ; 4=0V (Black).
Suggest you first check the load of the screen, and current capacity of your PSU for 5 volts.
