Help with noisy neighbor (loud stereo at all times of the day)

J

Jan Panteltje

Wow, tons of replies, thank you all very much. My original post was to get
an idea of the tricks I could use to give back to the idiot noise maker what
he is giving out unwanted.
Another thing thta makes this difficult is that I'm a noob at electronics
(not computers though :)
If there would be a way (if yes, please explain it in noob terms, with
pictures and radio shack part #'s would be superb) to just interfere with
the stereo reception. I did hear the radio announce it's label, 102.9 FM.
Would such an idea work with a small fm transmitter and a radio shack cb
antenna cause enough interference to mess him up bad? I did ask this in the
original post and didn't see any replies except to not do it :-(
BTW, I would run that device ONLY when bothered, that should teach the
bass-freak!

Thanks a bunch,

Worked very well with a tek digital frequency generator, and 1 meter wire.
These may be a bit expensive for you.
But almost any NPN si power with a 7 turns in the collector with a small tuning cap,
feedback 1 turn to the base, from a 12 V adapter and 73 cm wire (1/4 wave)
should do it.
But if they come to arrest you, then you are in a country where it is illegal.

I'm shocked -- shocked! -- to find people here proposing jamming broadcast
services.

I'm pleased, please I say :)
Mr. Hauser, you make it sound like I want to jam the whole city for crying out
loud! It's my neighbour, who's a jerk. For some reason, I can see you trying
this out :)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions,

Yeah - Me Too!

What we need to deploy is an EMP weapon - so that we do not unfairly
discriminate against broadcasters ;-)

Anyone knows Anyone at Sandia?

Well my urge to do it certainly increased after tony the blair got away with
WMD BBC world is now only parroting his point of view.
So move the thread how to get a travelling wave amp beam up to that sat.
My impression is the dark ages have come, whosoever starts the nuking
(in desperation) is probably right.

Dear sci.electronics.design, I have a noisy neighbor who plays his
stereo at different times in the day. I got no problems with him playing
it during normal hours (noon till 10 pm) but he plays the damn thing at
8 am every few days! I called him, spoke to him, left a letter for him
and it worked for about 3 weeks but now, the loud bass is back.
I don't wanna get the landlord nor police involved, would one of these
do the trick:

- Get a handheld CB with a radio shack CB antenna and power it on when
the loud music starts, would this cause interference for his stereo?

- I read of pre-built FM transmitters, how does one used this to cause
interference (for a short time only, to send the bugger to get his
stereo fixed :-0)

The apartment I'm in is like this:

[me] [staircase] [idiot stereo bass guy]

There is about 10 feet between our walls and I can feel the bass, it is
very loud.

Help me please,

Thanks.

Handgrenades, lots of'em.
