Hi everyone,
I'm an amateur electronics hobbyist and am trying to calibrate a gyroscopic sensor
(Gyro Breakout Board - LPY530AL Dual 300/s) that I purchased from Sparkfun.
I built a rotating platform powered by a motor (pwm controlled) to test the gyro.
The problem is that when I test the gyro on the platform (at say ... 2/3 revolution/sec) the gyro initially gives me a reading of, for example, 630 ( normally 400 at rest) and then slowly "drifts" back down to the at rest reading of 400 even though the platform is still rotating at 2/3 rev/sec.
I know that I wired and coded everything correctly; the correct pin to the adc and the self test pin and others are grounded.
Is this a problem with the gyro (ie. is it broken/did I break it) or am I not understanding the gyroscopic data correctly?
By the way: I am using a PIC16F690 microcontroller to read the gyro.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
