1: try to find the schematic diagram for the equipment, it might be available on the internet.
2: failing that; post information here about the equipment make & model & which resistor is burnt.
3: post sharp pictures of the burnt resistor & the parts around it, from both sides of the PCB.
4: be aware that there may be more faults than just the resistor.
