Certainly. I spent my first years dissecting everything. All by itself it can be a slow way to learn but with a little help from your friends here it'll make you understand.

I think many of us will have started the very same way, it's a good fun way of getting involved in electronics. When I was young, I used to ask neighbours for broken electronic items - either to be fixed, broken up for components or just to learn more about things.
