General capacitor question.

Good Morning All,

Kick question I recently received a older plasma tv that no longer works and I opened the back and found a couple capacitors blown/ bulged. I can't find a replacement anywhere online can someone point me in the right direction.

Digi Key or Mouser Electronics.
AND you can also use the wire leaded versions of that radial type of electrolytic capacitor ( s ).

Identical replacements are often an issue.

Provided you obtain a device with a voltage rating of AT LEAST the value being replaced (higher is ok, lower is NOT) you will be good to go.

You can even, in many situations, use alternative values of capacitance as electrolytics often have tolerances ranging from +10 to -50%..... e.g that 1,000μF could be replaced with a 1,500μF or (less practically, as in PSU's the higher option is preferred) a 680μF or 820μF capacitor.

You can also parallel them for increased capacitance (i.e. 2 x 470μF) and use axial in place of radial and vice versa.

For SMPS applications it is important to have low ESR devices and temperature ranges of 105degC (avoid the 85degC versions).
