Hi,

I am thinking of getting the Garmin 172C - does anyone have experience
with this model?

It is about £410 in the UK

Thanks

I have had the 172C for almost a year now, and think it is one of the
best bargains in large screen color chart plotters. I use it with
BlueChart on my boat and have had absolutely no problems.

I bought the 172 last fall, along with BlueChart cartridges, and used it going
down the ditch to/from FLorida last winder. My wife is now mad at me - she wants
to know why I didn't get it earlier! We both found it easy to use and very
effective. Of course, we still have paper charts but use the 172 as the primary
navigational tool.

Hello,

Does the 172 have depth contours? Can you use it with the fishing
hotspot maps. I have a Ranger bass boat, and want to get a plotter for
my dash and a plotter/sonar for my bow.

Thanks

Chris

It looks very tiny compared to my Dell with the 17" screen, but I suppose
any optician could supply spectacles suitable for viewing/magnifying it.
