Repair Tip
Mekka model FS-421 5" B&W TV with AM, FM & SW bands.
TV tuning drifts.
Replaced both 100uF 25V electrolytic capacitors which filtered both the main
DC input and the battery input.
One cap was before the main power switch, and one was after.
In effect, the design used 2 100uf caps in parallel.
So I just took both out, and replaced the first with a 470uF cap and that took
care of all the filtering formerly handled by the two caps.
Unit no longer drifts.
This type of fix could easily apply to other similar types of mini TVs.
This particular one is a 1979 model I've had for years, and it makes a neat
little over-the-air set for the porch, garage, or for power outages. Love
it!
