I have heard tales of frequent crashes of Protel 98 or 99SE with
Windows 98, but I had very few problems myself.

It might depend on the version of win98. I've been using win98SE and is
just as stable as win2k (tho i don't abuse it much). Also, various versions
of protel can get dodgy, which is fixed by deleting some of the protel-generated
binaries. This also happens to netscape and mozilla infrequently.
