DSC WLS-914 wireless or C&K DT-500 motion detector

P

Peter Georgeu

I am having an alarm system installed in my apartment in Vancouver by
Paladin Security. I have two cats.

I have a choice of a DSC WLS-914 (wireless) motion detector or a C&K DT-
500 (hard wired). I appreciate there may be better choices but for the
purposes of this post assume I just have these two choices. The balance
of the system will be a DSC Power 632, DSC PC 5501 and two wireless
door/window contacts.

I see a lot of posts on the DT-500 but very little about the DSC WSL-
914. My costs are going to be the same over the long haul so ignore that
point.

Would those experienced in the field kindly advise on what is the better
choice of the two. If someone wishes to email me (although posts are
preferable) please remove the two "x"s from my email address.

If I had my "druthers", I'd go with the C&K detector. One less battery to
change. Ask them about using Paradox's Digi-guard series of pet "immune"
detectors. I think they look better than the C&K stuff (esthetically)....

Thank you for the reply. I ended up going with the C&K/Intellisense DT-
7435 which appears to be a later and improved model of the soon-to-be
discontinued DT-500.
