DSC PC5020 & PC Link

B

Bug

I am trying to connect my Windows XP Pro workstation to a PC5020 panel
(3.22) using a PCLink regular connector and the DLS 2002 software.
When I try to upload the Panel config to my PC I get a "hangup"
message and an invitation to open the session on the the panel wich I
do. After that nothing happen. It looks like the connection doesn't
work at all because I get the same kind of message when I unplug the
PCLink connector from the panel. I have checked the COM port setup and
made sure that no other software is messing up with the COM port.
Any Idea ?
Thanks for your support

I know this is trivial, but I get the same thing when I put the PClink
adapter on the pins
of the panel upside down. Have you just got PCLink or have you used it
before?

Bug

Dear both ,

3 years ago I installed a 832 and I am almost sure that it did work at
that time.
I recently changed house and installed a 864 (PC5020) version 3.2..
This time, I am sure .... it doesn't work!
Based on your input I'd better find in this news group a description
of the regular wiring and check if the PCLink I have matches.
Any one else to suggest checks or controls I should go through before
I start getting into the bolts and nuts ?
Thanks for your support

i have a pc5010 (832) at home and the pclink work like a charm

you do need to enable it by entering programing mode *8
then installer code then 499 then installer code then 499

so i f installer code is 1234 it would be like that:
*8 1234 499 1234 499

it will start the connection to the pc link

hope it helped

Three years ago you were running Windows 98SE on a different computer ?

I have a number of seria port devices that don't work with XP but works fine
with 98SE.

Bug

All,

thanks much for the suggestions. I did try to reverse the connector on
the pannel and did activate the download with the Installer account.
None of it did work.
The PC OS may also be the reason for this dysfunction but I am using
my COM port with other devices and it does work fine.
so... I am now looking for the software version and their related
drivers.
As mentionned ealier I am running the DLS 2002 but it may well be that
it is not the appropriate version.
Let me explain how I got it installed first. I may have done something
wrong :
.. I installed the "DLS2002_engine_only_setup" first
.. then I applied "DLS2002_INT_pack_Products" package
.. and then the "DLS2002 SP2" serice pack
Does any one knows if this is correct for a PC5020 version 3.2.. ?

I must recognize that I get a bit lost with all those versions of
software that are available on DSC site. I could try to install a DLS
1.3 version instead but I really do not know which files to pick up
there and which drivers.
Can any one help with this one ?

Thanks again for your advices

best regards

I went back to the DSC site and looked at the vast list of DLS
software version they have there.

Based on the feedback I received from ome of you I am now
