Dimming Incandescent and Halogen Incandescent Lamps

T

TKM

Does anyone have a reference or comparison graph of lamp watts vs. light
output (lumens) for (1) standard incandescent (2)halogen incandescent (3)
halogen IR incandescent lamps?

I'd like to be able to show the advantages of the IR technology over the
standard and halogen technology even with dimming.

Thanks,

Terry - I have a curve of light vs. power for standard incandescent
lamps that I created using the equations in the IES Handbook. I never
thought that the variation of efficacy with filament temperature would
be that different for halogen and halogen IR, but perhaps I'm wrong.

Certainly IR technology should maintain its advantage over non-IR
technology. In fact, as the filament cools I might expect the
advantage of IR to increase.

I built a 2-foot integrating sphere a couple of years ago, and it has
a photopically-corected silicon photocell attached. If you provide
the lamps, I would be happy to get some data as a function of power.

What a great offer, Vic. I'll see if I can find some lamps -- especially
some with the latest HIR technology. I also think that IR technology should
have higher lpw ratings as the lamps are dimmed.
