Digi-Key Catalog

I want to sort by price on the Digikey website.
iirc...long time ago, I think I was able to sort by price but that was
eliminated.
I'm guessing it pissed off some of the Digikey vendors that it was too
easy for designers to select parts by cheapest price.

Maybe you can make Excel functions that import data from websites and
do it yourself.

What is it that you guys buy a Digikey that you find so cheap? I find
it to be the most expensive distributor out there.

I used to have about 5 distributors open in my browser comparing
prices and stock of stuff I'm buying and Digikey was always the most
expensive.

No need for 5 browsers, simply use www.findchips.com and it will search all
the major suppliers for you.

Yeah I know... I feel kind of unfair to Digikey... their parametric
search is still better for the most part than Mouser's, but their
prices are much higher.  I think the last couple of orders I've made
were from Mouser.

I for one think that Digikey has better customer service, better
selection, better web interface, more stuff in stock than Mouser.

But... I find that my Mouser orders outnumber Digikey orders by a
factor of five or so.

Digikey web interface is better. The Digikey packaging of the parts is
more compact then that of Mouser. However I am getting the regular
shipments from Mouser on the next day whereas it takes a few days for
Digikey. This is not a special favor; it happens just because of the
geographical location. So I prefer Mouser.

That's part of it. It takes four days for UPS ground to get from
Minnesota to
me, but only three days from Texas to me.

Mouser often misses the promised same-day shipping but will often (not
always) upgrade the shipping at no cost to me to get it into my hands
on
time.

If you want to see the Coupe de Ville of web interfaces and customer
service,
try out the McMaster-Carr website. WOW!.

It used to be great, but now they've junked it up to where it won't
operate without javascript enabled, and I hate javascript. <grumble>
