Device turns off within a second of being switched on.

I am in process of troubleshooting an old gaming console which turns itself off within less than a second of being switched on. It has a built in internal power supply (12v, xx amp).

PSU is fully functional however it is showing 13.xxV instead of 12V. Could this be the cause why the gaming console is switching itself off?

Any help would highly be appreciated.

Thank you.

Very doubtful.
How do you know the PSU is functioning correctly? just by the voltage?.
Have you measured the output when you immediately turn the console on? (before it switches off and has a load).

Hi Martin - I will have to run more tests to find out if the PSU is functioning correctly, I only tested the PSU output voltage. Will do more tests today.

Thank you.

"old gaming console " . . . .now thats being as device SPECIFIC as " I'm a fixin' this a hear old car " . . .but at least that's a step up from Device.
