Decoding DTMF tone with PIC MCU!?? Is that possible?

M

Mart

Hello,

I'm looking since a couple of month on the Internet to find how to
decode DTMF tone with a PIC MCU. PIC16 or PIC12 series if possible.

I know there are many chip on market wich can do the job but every
companie I have reach to buy these chip say me: "Hey dude, this IC is
obselete or discontinued"

I'm now looking to make my how program but I want to know if someone
have already do that?

thanks

Martin,
It is possible with a PIC - see this discussion group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rat_ring/
or a search the PIClist archive
http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist/index.htm for DTMF will give you some
info.

Fortunately, not all DTMF decoders are discontinued.
Have you tried the 8888 or 8889 from Zarlink, or Teltone, or Clare ?
they need a microprocessor to work, but they are still available (AFAIK)

thanks every one for your advice.

I've found a local rep for Clare. I'll see with him if is it possible
to get dtmf decoder.
