Cyberhome CH-DVD 500 DVD Player Repair

I have a Cyberhome CH-DVD 500 DVD Player which uses a Cyberdrive CW058D
CD-RW drive. The Player will play audio CDs, but will not play a DVD.
It continually searches the DVD and then gives up. I know that the
problem is with the drive, as I have a second one that I swapped the
drive into. It seems as though the drive is out of alignment (I already
tried cleaning the lens). There are two adjustments on the laser
pickup. Does anybody have any information on alignment of this drive ?
Has anybody run into this problem ? Any help would be appreciated.

IIRC these contain two separate lasers, one IR for the audio CD's and one
red for DVD's, I may be wrong though.

Actually that isn't true at all. They are just DVD-ROM drives in
there but Cyberhome used some old drive cases that were from a CD-RW
drive. So the drive label is incorrect and isn't what the drive model
actually is.

hi I have the exact same problem with the exact same cyberhome model!
did anyone ever resolve this problem? also, is there a firmware
upgrade I can do? maybe its a controller card issue?
