confused as to why my LED fried.

I had some LED lights left over from some displays that I installed. They were hooked up to the white 24v 4.0A power supply in the pic. I had a 12v 5000mA power supply that I thought I could use. I hooked them up and the LED fried. I didn't think that could happen since it was 1/2 the volts and 5000mA. Does anyone know why this would happen? your LED pic is just a blurr

what is the make model of the LED strip ?
show better pic, show link to the product

I can take a better pic but it won't do any good. It doesn't show make or model and they were just left over from a job I did so I don't have any info on them.

yeah OK
well bluejets answered your Q as to why the second plugpack fried your LED strip

Well, ok, thanks for your help but I still don't understand because the second plugpack was also used to power LEDs.

I agree, both power supplies are voltage output. They rely on the LED strips having internal current limiting, usually resistors.

Are you certain the polarity was o.k.? An LED can tolerate only very small reverse voltages. When powered at 12 V reverse voltage, an LED will be destroyed.

Thank You! That makes sense to me.I wasn't sure how to hook it up because the power supply and the LEDs were from two separate jobs. I must have hooked it up in reverse.
Thank You
