Choosing the right stepper motor for my project

Hi,
Currently, I am working on a project of integrated stepper motor and PID controller programming for steering Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV).
The main scope of my project is to select and integrate stepper motor to replace the PMDC motor and control this motor using PLC through PID controller. The calculation has to be done based on the magnetic sensor input error and based on that the stepper motor is used to control the steering.
Currently, we are using 48VDc battery and BLDC motor and controller to drive the AGV.
So, can I know which type of stepper motor and encoder is best for my project?
