Cannot pair wireless Switch Gamecube style controller from Power A to computer

Hi everyone! I cannot pair the controller to the computer. I'm on Windows XP professional SP3. When the controller gets detected, I try to pair and it asks me a code. When I type in 0000, it looks like it gets connected (because there is no error message), but it doesn't. Is it a driver's fault? Thank you!
