Sorry what is possibly a very dumb question but I'm trying to identify what type of connector this is so I can get a replacement male part.

It's 7pin offset to the top, Female is 6mm in width, Male 5mm.

The picture is a bit fuzzy, however it appears to be a JST header BM07B-SRSS-TB(LF)(SN)

I believe you are right ! So the header it he male and the insert is the female in this case, I guess as the pin's are in the header. (I learn something new every day !)

Yes, in this case you are looking header with male pins and the pins are factory installed in the housing.
