Boost Car Radio Signal

is there any circuit that can boost the car radio signal?

in the dim distant past, I have seen preamps available for car radios
You didn't really give much info ... for AM band or FM band ?

Why do you need to boost the signal ? ....
has the receive signal quality noticeably dropped recently ?
are you travelling further from town and the radio station ?

tell us lots more

A half decent car radio is very sensitive. A car antenna is also very sensitive.
Your problem is the radio, antenna or cable between them is faulty or you are too far away from civilization.

As with real estate, it's all about location, location, location. Underground or in a parking garage or in a tunnel is bad. Atop a mountain is usually good.

You can disconnect the car radio antenna and substitute an antenna with more "gain" but it will be directional and probably not very mobile. You would have switch between two antennas for AM and FM reception. A Yagi-Uda antenna can be used for FM, and a large loop antenna may work well for AM.

Adding a pre-amplifier between the antenna and the radio is a last resort and may not be effective, as the amplifier will also amplify noise from the antenna. It all depends on the signal+noise to noise ratio, and to some extent the modulation method (AM versus FM) as to what might work best.

the receiving signal for both am and FM is weak i want to strength it
As Dave asked in his post #3: Tell us more. Lots more. Like what is it you are trying to DO? Terse answers providing little or no information are not useful in this forum. A bilateral discussion, to and fro, is required to get anywhere.

well some cars in my area get more radio FM stations than mine did
i checked it with some friends car they got more channels
so i wondered how to make my car radio able to receive such channels

Your best bet might be to purchase a really good after-market radio and have it professionally installed. Not much you can do for your existing radio without pulling it and having it tested to see if it still meets original factory specifications. If you go to that much bother, and it's a really old radio, you should consider replacing it with a newer version. Even if it does still meet OEM specs, those might not be as good as the specs available with new modern designs. After all, the car manufacturer tries to control cost by using the minimum "acceptable" design. After-market radios OTOH compete based mainly on performance and features. Shop wisely. Google reviews, try to find someone who has what you want and is willing to demonstrate it.

my radio is 5 years old
how old is my friends radio i dunno
they are not same brand

so his one could just be a very much better model than your one

and you still didn't answer my earlier Q's ....

am i late to respond :p
i remember i had a friend who experienced a similar issue since he lived in a valley radio signal was extremely poor which is a known issue for tv signal in some areas too usually an in-home solution for weak signals is basically a booster for the signal which plugs into a wall socket.. allthough it wont work in the way of radio's what we did to solve the issue was get a high quality high power antenna and a quality digital Radio. since then he has not had problems with bad signal.

no it been always poor alot of noise in it

OK so it may have a fault, or is just a bad model ... a preamp may or may not do any good

do some ebay searching on "car radio receive preamps" and see what you come up with
come back with some links and recommendations can then be given :)
