Battery pack diy advice please

Is there a way I can change this power pack to run batteries in series instead of parallel ?

Why?

It may destroy the circuitry.

Doubtful, as it is it would be a boost 3.(n)V to 5.0V, but if you ran them in series it would need a buck ~7V to 5.0V circuit instead.

If you wanted to replace the PCB with a buck PCB, carve up the casing to electrically put the cells in series, cut out a new USB socket hole since it's unlikely that the new board will put the USB socket in exactly the same position, so you end up with a fragile thing that costs more in parts and your time then something else is worth, Sure you can do that.

I'd ditch the case though, and build a new one out of polycarbonate, and the battery contacts aren't good for trying to mount them to use the batteries in series, so it's really not worth it. What did that cost anyway, the equivalent of $3 USD?

Two parallel batteries are used in products that must keep the battery power all the time. The product warns you that it has "Low Baddry" so you replace one cell at-a-time.

Huh? You should never replace one of two paralleled batteries, since the two would have different terminal voltages. Both must be replaced with fresh ones at the same time.
