Automotive LCD Broken :(

Hey all.

New boy here. Am hoping someone can offer help, please. I don't know anything about electronics, but I can see what's wrong with this LCD.

What I don't understand is how this works, and how I can find an aftermarket replacement part.

This 3 digit LCD shows what gear the car is in. As you can see the liquid has escaped and the thing is cracked. But it has no pins - it sits on a pair of rubber insulators about 10mm above a PCB. How does it get its power? All the replacement panels I've seen just by Googling it have lots of little pins like a chip.

Help please :)

What does this display come from . . . . a top of the line Ferrari or a Volkswagen bus ?
Fortunately the lighting caught the right reflection . . . of one of your photos, to confirm
that it is being a 3 digit " Union Jack" display.
A Union Jack configuration . . . . meaning that its segments can display all digits plus all alphabetic characters.

For the inter connect methodology between the multi microns of vacuum deposition of metallic connector pads on that displays glass surface, refer to:

Usual failure mode on those Zebra strips is the weeping out of liquid siloxane to initiate poor conductive surface contact.
That condition is HIGHLY exacerbated by the subjecture of such items to elevated ambient temperatures.
In YOUR display panels case, the problem is loss of sealing integrity and formation of what is called "worming" of the LCD panel proper.

Yeah. And automobile manufacturers are notorious for making their parts proprietary.
Good luck getting one to just sell you the display, they'll probably want you to buy a whole new unit.
Any possibility of checking wrecking yards in your area for a 'junked' replacement?
