Hello:
I'm using Atmel Flip Software version 2.2.4 to program a CAN
microcontroller demo kit. The problem I have with this software, is that I
receive a "Time Out Error" message when I choose any COM port other than
COM3.
I only have COM1 and COM2, and it doesn't matter whether or not these ports
are connected to anything, as long as I select COM3, the software act as if
something was there; it erases, blank checks, program, but fail to verify,
all this with nothing connected to the ports.
The steps I follow are these:
1. I leave all COM ports desconnected
2. I open the Flip program.
3. Select a microcontroller from device, in my case 89c51cc01
4. Select settings, communications, RS232 and COM3 at any baud rate
5. After the check boxes next to Erase, Blank Check, Program and Verify
are checked
6. Select Run
7. After a few minutes I get a green on Erase, Blank Check, Program and
Verify turns red.
I just can't understand why the program allows me to do all this without
anything being attached to the COM ports. This only happens when I select
COM3.
Has anyone encountered any similar problems? Please let me know.
