apC/8X Panel Alternative/Replacement?

Earlier, I asked if there was a simple way to get an older version of
C-Cure to operate our panel, but it's just too expensive.

Now I'll ask if there's a simple panel, and maybe some open-source
software too, that will just run a few card readers and electronic
locks. We have a separate video system, and an alternative vendor
(ADT?) will install & monitor another panel for fire & intrusion.

So, our only interest would be to activate the card readers for
convienience's sake (rather than using metal keys).

Anything like that out there?

I don't know of any 3rd party access systems or software, but there are
simpler panels than the Software House ones. Can you identify the readers?
Do they say HID on them? Long and slender gray? Big bulky square? Also, call
ADT and ask them what they can do with it.
